International Midwife Day- May 5th

Today is International Midwife Day. A worldwide tribute to midwives everywhere. What an honor, and an awesome responsibility to be a midwife. I am so thankful to midwives who came before and grateful to young women who are coming in the future. I have to mention my own midwives and how thankful I am for the help they gave me with my babies- Carol Pavek in Amarillo, Tx, Mickey Friedrichs in Pasadena, Tx, and Monica King, in Houston, Tx. Even though I never had any major problems with having my babies, I definitely needed a midwife to help me through my births. I’m also thankful to my many midwife friends I call on when I need help- Pat Jones, Sylyna Kennedy, Cathy Rude, Alice Brayer, and many others. I am thankful to live in a country and state where midwifery is legal and there is strong grassroots support. Jackie Griggs

    Jackie-

It was such a treat this morning to stumble upon the site for your birthing center! I am so glad that the torch is being carried on for women in Texas.
