As a Certified Nurse Midwife, I offer personalized, highest quality care for women in the Houston/Galveston area. And when it comes to caring for my patients, I hold several steadfast beliefs about women’s health and childbirth:
I believe that childbirth is a natural, normal body function—
and in most instances, women can give birth without medical intervention.
I believe every woman should begin her gynecological and prenatal care with a midwife.
Sometimes, medical necessities might cause a woman to need a higher level of care, but every woman deserves the advocacy of her own personal midwife. Being a midwife is a privilege that I enjoy very much. I take your pregnancy and healthcare need seriously, and I love working with women in partnership to help them through their pregnancies. It truly is a labor of love.
I believe you have a right to privacy and confidentiality—
and your records will be kept secure and confidential at all times. All decisions about your care will be made in consultation with you. Ultrasounds, childbirth classes, and medical consultation are provided on a referral basis.
My job is to be your guardian throughout your pregnancy—
and recognize when things are normal and when they are not. Nowadays, I hear the term “high-risk” applied to pregnant women quite frequently. Women should know that 90% of pregnancies are normal. Most of the time, things go well. When they don’t, I can help you to recognize when things are not going normally and help you obtain the care you need. I work in collaboration with a physician to obtain the help you need. From the beginning, I expect things to go normally, and usually they do. I want you and your family to be active participants in your care.
